GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — The Mesa County District Attorney's Office says two Grand Junction police officers were justified when they shot and killed a man in August.

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports ( ) the officers fired 15 shots at 29-year-old Joshua Crawford after the man allegedly pointed a gun in their direction. Crawford, who was sitting in his ex-girlfriend's vehicle in front of a home at the time, was hit seven times.

The officers went to the home shortly after noon on Aug. 25 when the woman requested Crawford be removed from the property after he refused to get out of her vehicle.

Investigators say witnesses and cellphone records suggest he was distraught over the recent breakup.
