CHARLESTON, West Virginia — West Virginia's ski resorts are getting ready for new seasons of skiing and snowboarding, even though winter won't officially begin for more than two months.

West Virginia Ski Areas Association director Joe Stevens tells the Charleston Daily Mail (http://bit.ly/1r10XCj ) that the ski resorts begin preparing for the beginning of the seasons after Labor Day. Once temperatures begin dropping below freezing, the resorts will test their snow-making equipment.

Snowshoe Mountain plans to open on Nov. 26. Timberline expects to open on Dec. 12. Winterplace, Canaan Valley and Oglebay have not announced opening dates.
