LAKESIDE, California — San Diego County authorities say a body found in a locked suitcase has been identified as the missing daughter of the woman who led them to the remains.

But it's still unclear how she died.

The body of Brook Macbeth was found on March 3 by sheriff's deputies who were evicting her mother, Bonnie Macbeth.

Sheriff's Lt. John Maryon tells U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/1Muzk1H ) that the woman led deputies to the suitcase, which smelled of decomposition and was wrapped in bedding and trash bags.

Maryon says Brook, who had a disability, would have turned 28 last November but neighbors say she hasn't been seen for six months to a year.

Her mother hasn't been arrested but the investigation continues.
