JACKSON, Mississippi — Raeford Worsham scored 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds to propel Jackson State to a 73-49 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night.
Brent Javeres sank four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points, while Janarius Middleton and Dontaveon Robinson had 10 points apiece for Jackson State (10-18, 8-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference). The Tigers hit 31 of 62 from the field and controlled the boards 44-28 to win their second straight and avenge a Jan. 31 loss to MVSU (5-24, 4-12).
Jackson State opened the game with a 14-0 run capped by back-to-back buckets from Treshawn Bolden and carried a 45-23 advantage into the break. The Tigers slowed down in the second half but still outscored MVSU by two over the final 20 minutes.
