CASPER, Wyoming — A winter storm bringing heavy snow and gusty winds led to highway closures across much of Wyoming Tuesday morning while difficult traveling conditions were reported in much of the rest of the state.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 25 from Cheyenne to Douglas and from Casper to Kaycee, as well as Interstate 80 between Rock Springs and Laramie and Interstate 90 between Buffalo and Sheridan.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1aJSsLp ) Casper is isolated from Riverton, Lander and Rawlins because highways 20/26, 220, 287 and 789 are all closed.

WYDOT has advised no unnecessary travel on many of the other main roadways in eastern Wyoming.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning calling for blowing snow and below-zero wind chill temperatures in south-central and southeastern Wyoming through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
