POWELL, Wyoming — The Park County Sheriff's Office says four people died in a small twin-engine plane crash Saturday in northwest Wyoming.

The Powell Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1LoaGlG ) there were no survivors and two females and two males died in the crash around noon Saturday northwest of the Buffalo Bill Reservoir. The plane had left the airport in Sheridan around 11 a.m. and was headed to Billings.

The plane strayed from its scheduled flight path and circled Yellowstone National Park shortly after takeoff. The pilot then radioed air traffic controllers in Salt Lake City and was told to climb to 14,800 feet. Soon after, the plane soon suddenly turned east toward Cody and went into a steep descent.

Officials have not yet released names, ages or residences of the victims. The crash remains under investigation.
