WALHALLA, South Carolina — Authorities say a Walhalla man faces a murder charge in the strangulation death of his girlfriend.
The Oconee County Sheriff's office tells area media outlets that the body of 27-year-old Alana Concetta Carpenter was found Monday at a house in Walhalla.
Authorities originally thought she had died of an overdose of alcohol and prescription drugs. But an autopsy showed she had been strangled.
Authorities said Wednesday that 30-year-old Caleb Nathanael Linart has been charged with murder. Linart lives in the house where Carpenter was found.
It was not immediately clear if Linart had an attorney.
