OKOLONA, Mississippi — Patrons of the Okolona School District will vote Aug. 26 on a $2 million bond issue that will renovate facilities in eastern Chickasaw County.

The Okolona Board of Trustees voted to issue bonds to repairs at facilities across the district. The bulk of the funding will be spent at the Old Okolona High School that now houses administration offices and on heating and air conditioning repairs at Okolona Elementary School.

Superintendent Dexter Green tells the Chickasaw Journal (http://bit.ly/1oqGq8p ) the money also will repair leaking roofs and perform maintenance at several buildings.

Green says money will also go to enhance a new football field located closer to the high school.

Green says district playgrounds are not safe and part of the bond issue will upgrade those facilities.
