DETROIT — A fire has destroyed at least four adjacent houses and heavily damaged a fifth on Detroit's southwest side.
Firefighters were battling the blaze late Friday afternoon on Oakdale Street.
At least one of the wood bungalow-style structures had been vacant. It wasn't immediately known if anyone has been injured and fire officials have not said how the blazes started.
A utility crew from DTE Energy also was at the scene of the fire.
The Associated Press left messages seeking comment from police and fire officials.
