HELENA, Montana — Proposed updates to Montana's campaign laws will be vetted at a two-day public hearing this week.

Commissioner of Political Practices Jonathan Motl will host the meeting Wednesday and Thursday at the state Capitol building.

Motl crafted the rules this summer with input from his staff, state attorneys, local political party officials and election policy experts from across the country.

If approved, the rules would require more groups to report their political donations and move most of the disclosure process online.
