NEW YORK — New York City police have identified a man they say was shot and killed after he came at officers with a knife when they responded to a domestic dispute.
He was the third person to die in a police shooting in New York City this week.
The police department says officers were called about a problem Friday night between 28-year-old Denis Volchkin and his mother, who escorted them into the Brooklyn home. Police say Volchkin lunged at the officers with a knife in hand, and an officer shot him once in the torso. The two officers were taken to a hospital for tinnitus.
Police shot and killed two men amid another domestic dispute Monday. Police say one man had a knife, but the other intervened and was shot inadvertently.
