GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — The Grand Rapids Public Schools district is ramping up its marketing efforts with a campaign to recruit more students from the city.
The Grand Rapids Press reports (http://bit.ly/ZpICIu ) that Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal discussed the "We Are GR — We Are Proud Parents" campaign during a Monday school board work session. She says the district must "invest in telling our story."
The district says it plans to spend about $260,000, up about $115,000 from last year. The campaign is expected to be unveiled in late October or early November. Plans call for the effort to use print, online and broadcast media as well as social media and billboards.
The campaign aims to promote the about 17,000-student district, attract families and boost enrollment.
