MINEOLA, New York — A nurse aide charged along with eight others in the death of a 72-year-old nursing home resident has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.

An attorney for Christina Corelli says she entered the plea Thursday in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead. She pleaded guilty to a violation of public health law for failing to report neglect to state authorities.

She faces three years' probation.

The charges filed by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman stem from the October 2012 death of a 72-year-old patient who was supposed to be connected to a ventilator. Prosecutors say an alarm sounded for over two hours before Aurelia Rios was found dead at the Medford Multicare Center for Living.

Another aide pleaded guilty to an endangerment charge in January.

The others face trial next week.
