CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating three shooting deaths and a fatal assault in a six-hour span.
Police said one person was killed in a shooting in east Charlotte around 12:20 p.m. Thursday. Authorities said officers were called to deal with an assault, but police found the unidentified man dead at the scene.
About an hour later, police responded to a call on the south side of the city regarding two elderly people inside a residence suffering gunshot wounds. According to police, officers were trying to serve an eviction notice.
Police say the man died at the scene and the woman died at Carolinas Medical Center. The investigation identified the victims as husband and wife.
Detectives reported late Thursday a man was assaulted in his home and pronounced dead at the scene.
