SAN DIEGO — A man police say ran over and killed his estranged wife in San Diego County has surrendered at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Chula Vista police had feared say 37-year-old Cesar Castillo fled to Mexico after Friday night's attack. But they say he gave himself up shortly after 2 p.m. Monday to authorities at the San Ysidro checkpoint.
It's unknown whether he has a lawyer.
Investigators believe Castillo was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that hit a woman on a Chula Vista sidewalk. Witnesses say the truck then turned around and struck the woman again before driving off.
The woman was Castillo's estranged wife, Leonor Castillo. The mother of three died at the scene.
