RICHMOND, Virginia — Officials say a 26-year-old inmate at a Richmond jail has died after an apparent heart attack.

Richmond City Sheriff C.T. Woody Jr.'s office said Gregory Hill was pronounced dead at VCU Medical Center on Saturday.

Officials believe Hill suffered a heart attack in his housing unit around 7 p.m. Saturday. Woody's office said first responders responded at the prison and transported Hill to VCU.

Hill was being held on felony charges of malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He had been custody since Wednesday.

Officials say there is no suspicion of foul play but they are conducting a full investigation. The Medical Examiner is working to confirm the cause of death.
