MILWAUKEE — Akeem Springs scored 18 points and led four players into double figure scoring as Milwaukee rolled past Youngstown State 77-62 in a Horizon League contest Wednesday night.

After DJ Cole hit a 3-pointer to give Youngstown State (9-11, 0-4 Horizon League) a 10-6 lead four minutes into the game, the Panthers went on an 11-0 run capped by a Springs dunk to take a 17-10 lead and never looked back.

Milwaukee (6-12, 1-3) led by nine at intermission, 34-25, and cruised to its first Horizon League victory of the season.

Springs shot 8 of 10 from the field, with both misses coming from beyond the arc. The Panthers shot 62.2 percent from the field (28 of 45) and got 16 points from Steve McWhorter, 15 from Cody Wichmann and 13 from Matt Tiby.

Marcus Keene paced the Penguins with 15 points, with Osandai Vaughn adding 14 and Bobby Hain 12.
