DETROIT — Police say five people were wounded following a shooting on Detroit's southwest side.
Police say the five were among a larger number of people who gathered outside early Tuesday. The Detroit News reports those shot were men and women ages 19 to 22. Police say one who was shot was in serious condition and the rest were in stable condition.
Mentoria Brazill tells the newspaper she was awakened by a phone call from her mother saying her brother had been wounded. She says she lost a son to a drive-by shooting two years ago and was "irate" about the latest shooting. She says the gathering was part of a peaceful birthday celebration.
Louis Pace tells the Detroit Free Press he heard more than a dozen shots. Police are investigating.
