BY ST. LOUIS, Mississippi — A 65-year-old Picayune man has been sentenced to 40 years for the sexual battery of an 11-year-old Hancock County girl.

Circuit Judge Lisa Dodson sentenced Rodney Mark Krementz to 40 years on two counts of sexual battery and suspended 20 years, leaving 20 years to serve plus five years of probation.

Under state law, he must serve the 20 years without consideration for early release.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1kGrkB7 ) the Hancock County Sheriff's Office arrested Krementz on July 14, 2013, following investigation of a complaint.

Assistant District Attorney Chris Daniel said the girl's parents had left her with Krementz while they ran errands and came home to find him molesting her.

Daniel pleaded guilty Monday, telling the judge he had no excuse and accepted responsibility for his actions.
