VICKSBURG, Mississippi — An agreement between the City of Vicksburg and the Mississippi Department of Transportation is freeing up $471,475 in federal funds for repairs to the Old Depot Museum.
The Vicksburg Post reports (http://bit.ly/1jwvvZI) the city will put up a 20 percent match, or $104,369.
No date was given when the project will go out for bids.
The city signed the agreement Monday.
The museum is housed in the former Yazoo and Mississippi River Valley Railroad Depot.
The museum in downtown Vicksburg features a huge collection of ship models and riverboat models.
The building also houses the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The city bought the 108-year-old, three-story depot in 2001 for $295,000.
It underwent a $1.6 million renovation and, after several delays, opened in 2012.
