NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Tahjere McCall scored 23 points, hitting 15 of 16 from the foul line, and Tennessee State hung on Saturday night for a 77-76 win over Morehead State.
Tennessee State, which built a 12-point lead twice in the second half, had to hold off a Morehead State rally in the final two minutes. McCall hit all six of his free-throw attempts in the final 27 seconds to secure the win.
Armani Chaney added 17 points and Marcus Roper had 11 for the Tigers (16-7, 7-3 Ohio Valley Conference), who shot 55 percent from the field and hit 23 of 37 from the foul line.
Morehead State (12-11, 6-5) trailed the entire second half but stayed close, trimming a nine-point deficit with 4-for-4 shooting from long range in the final 30 seconds.
Xavier Moon led four Morehead State players in double figures with 20 points, including three 3-pointers.
