MINEOLA, New York — A Long Island man has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for stabbing his wife and then torching their house to cover it up.

Loventino Cassadean (KAS'-uh-deen) was arrested shortly after his wife's body was found at their Freeport home on Sept. 3, 2012.

The 52-year-old pleaded guilty in April to second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say he repeatedly stabbed 22-year-old Felicia Cassadean with a knife.

Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/17pqxy4 ) says her two young children were visiting their grandmother in Guyana at the time.
