MADRID — Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored twice to give Schalke a thrilling 4-3 win at Real Madrid but two headers by Cristiano Ronaldo helped the hosts advance to the quarterfinals 5-4 on aggregate in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Christian Fuchs opened the scoring in the 20th minute and Ronaldo equalized five minutes later from Toni Kroos' corner.

Madrid made three defensive errors in a row that culminated with Huntelaar hitting the post in the 40th and scoring seconds later after connecting with Madrid 'keeper Casillas' clearance of Max Meyer's shot.

Ronaldo scored his 75th career Champions League goal five minutes later and Karim Benzema dribbled past two defenders to score in the 53rd.

But Leroy Sane curled a shot over Casillas in the 57th to level the match on the night before former Madrid player Huntelaar made it four for Schalke in the 84th.
