Carla J. Himes
Carla J. Himes, 73, of Pendleton, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 27, 2014, at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1941, in Anderson, and resided most of her life in Pendleton. Carla graduated in 1959 from Anderson High School.
She worked for Anderson Community Schools, South Madison Community Schools, CO-OP and devoted her life to her family, the farm and her community.
She was currently Grand Representative to the State of Wyoming as well as a Past and current Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star #138, Century and Half Club, President of Mendon Homemakers Club and Madison County 4-H.
Carla is survived by her loving spouse whom she married Aug. 28, 1959, Robert W. Himes of Pendleton; children, Jeff (Rhonda) Himes of Marion, Ind., John (Andrea) Himes of Frisco, Texas, and Sandy (Tom) Harmon of Pendleton; siblings, David (RaeAnn) Ashbaugh, Leonard (Nancy) Ashbaugh, and Mary Alice Finley; grandchildren, Jessica Crystal (Jeff) Bartel, Brittany Nicole Himes, Jennifer Maye Himes, Kristie Marie Himes, Madison Delaney Harmon, Thomas Cameron Harmon, and Christopher Keith Gibson; great-grandson, Aidan Michael Bartel and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, Larry and Mary Higgins.
She was preceded in death by mother, Virginia (Carlton) Ashbaugh; father, John Ashbaugh; sister, Marta Walker; aunt and uncle Virginia and Russell Ashbaugh.
Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, from 4 - 8 p.m. with 7 p.m. Eastern Star services at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson. Services was Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the funeral home with Linda Norville officiating. Burial took place in Mendon Cemetery, Pendleton.
