Steve Holt, 66, of Pendleton passed away at his home on July 30, 2014. He was born July 16, 1948, in Anderson. Steve grew up in Perkinsville later moving to Pendleton where he resided most of his life.
He was a 1966 graduate of Frankton High School. Steve graduated from Barber College and went to work at Burks Barber Shop in Anderson. Later he was employed as a dispatcher for the Indiana State Police; reserve deputy for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department; reserve officer for the Pendleton Police Department; Canteen; Dave’s Barbershop; Boles Chevrolet, Pendleton; Auto Outfitters; then returning to Burks Barbershop.
Steve was a devoted and dedicated member of the Pendleton Fire Department for 31 years and Pendleton Emergency Ambulance Service for several years. He was a member of the Modern Antiques Car Club and attended Perkinsville Methodist Church in his childhood and currently attended First United Methodist Church in Pendleton. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard.
His hobbies and interests included street rods, model trains, golfing, visiting and enjoying Dewart Lake with family and friends since 1959, racing, volunteering at Anderson Motor Speedway for many years, attending sporting events to support family and friend’s children, collecting memorabilia, and his 1948 Willys.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Holt; children, Hillery Holt of Pendleton, Tammy (Donnie) Lawson of Thorntown and Randy Baker of Chicago; brother, Philip (Brenda) Holt of Noblesville; grandchildren, Kay Leigh (Jeremy) Fisher and Clayton Lawson; nephews, Reggie (Jaime) Holt of Fishers and Ryan (Laura) Holt of Westfield; great nephews and nieces, Tyson and Quinn Holt and Morgan and Rachel Holt; several aunts; uncles; and cousins; and his dog, Houla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald “Fred” and Vera (Hiday) Holt.
Visitation: 2- 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
Services: 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Pastor Bob Case officiating. Burial followed Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
