David H. Workman, 67, of New Palestine, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his residence. He was born on March 5, 1947, in La Porte, Ind., as the son of Robert and Virginia (Rowekamp) Workman. He graduated from Rolling Prairie in 1965. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He married Cheryl (Collings) on June 6, 1970, in LaPorte, Ind.
He worked for Eaton Corporation for many years before retiring in 2004. Mr. Workman was a member of the VFW, American Legion, American Huey Association and St. Michael’s Church. He was a proud Veteran and an avid Notre Dame fan.
David is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Collings) Workman of New Palestine; sons, Vince (Kristen) Workman of Granger, Ind., Michael (Helen) Workman of Indianapolis and Ara Workman of Kalamazoo, Mich.; brothers, Greg and Roger Workman and four grandchildren, Max, Maya, Liam, and Maggie Workman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia (Rowekamp) Workman.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Greenfield. There will also be a memorial gathering at 10 a.m to Noon (central time)on Friday, June 13, 2014, with a memorial mass immediately following at St. Peter Catholic Church 1104 E St Hwy, La Porte, IN 46350.
