Jerry R. Bright, 83, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Brandywine - Golden Living Centers. He was born on May 25, 1930, in Albertsville, Ala., as the son of David Wilson and Eva (Stone) Bright. He served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1947 until 1951. He married Mabel (Denny) on May 7, 1966, in Indianapolis.
He worked for Ford Motor Company for 25 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Bright was a member of UAW #1111 and Bethel Baptist Church. He loved fishing.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mabel (Denny) Bright of Greenfield; children, Mike (Pam) Bright of Alexandria, Faith (Jim) Stires of Charlotte, N.C., Laura Wilkins of Indianapolis, and David (Kayleen) Bright of Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Connie (Pete) Kurtz of Germantown, Ohio; brother, Jack Bright of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Betty Miller of Ragland, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Wilson and Eva (Stone) Bright.
Visitation will be from 10 -11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation. Pastor Randall Parker will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
