Cleon (Cokie) Elaine Mellinger

Cleon (Cokie) Elaine Mellinger, 85, of Pendleton, passed away Feb. 16, 2014, at her home with family. She was raised in Sulphur Springs, Ind., and resided in Pendleton 65 years.

Cokie graduated from Sulphur Springs High School, and attended Purdue University. She retired from the Pendleton School Corporation as the assistant secretary to the Superintendent of schools, Harold Smith.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pendleton where she taught Sunday School and Pendleton Christian Church.

Cokie is survived by her children, Scott Mellinger of Pendleton, Jackie (Steve) Mellinger-Bradley of Summitville, and Jill (John) Kemp of Anderson; sister, Delores Wilson of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Lauren (Matt) (Mellinger) Heiden, Malerie Mellinger, and Kevin Mellinger; great-grandson, Lucas Heiden and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Percil Ruth and Everett Cheever of Sulphur Springs, and her husband, Jack Scott Mellinger of Pendleton, and sisters, Micki Reve of Houston Texas, and Bonnie Chiszar of South Bend.

Cremation was chosen. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Robert Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St. Anderson, IN 46013. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
