Lucille Phyllis Bowyer
Lucille Phyllis Bowyer , 93, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Pendleton, passed away at 2:14 am on Jan. 7, 2014, at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, Florida. She was born July 1, 1920, in Pleasant View, Ind. to William Brent and Elsie Davisson and was one of seven children.
She grew up in the Jennings County, Indiana area and graduated with the class of 1939, at Vernon High School. She was married in Westport, Ind., on May 24, 1940, to John Taylor Bowyer. She was a homemaker in the Hancock and Madison County area raising four children. A few of her favorite things she loved to do was cook, bake, decorate wedding cakes, sew, do crafting, gardening, and play the piano and organ. After years of snow-birding, they permanently moved to Largo, Fla., in 1978. She attended Largo Wesleyan Church for many years.
Survived by children, Patricia Bowyer of Indianapolis, Marylin (Bowyer) Paul of Largo, Fla., John M. (Amy) Bowyer of Pendleton, and Cheryl Bowyer (Anthony) Reed of Hayesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Renee Paul (John) Langfritz of Clearwater, Fla., Michael (Michelle) Paul of Largo, Fla., Angela Barbosa of Pendleton, Jessica Buckner (Mark) Cardwell of Leeds, Ala., Melissa Bowyer of Greenfield, John R. Bowyer of Indianapolis, Joseph (Katie) Reed of Largo, Fla. and Carley Reed of Hayesville, N.C.; great- grandchildren, Brandon Paul of Largo, Fla., Gage Williamson of Greenfield, Summer Feyes of Hayesville, N.C. , Avery Hayes of Pendleton, Emmy Bowyer of Pendleton, and Gannon Best of Greenfield; siblings: Betty Leonard of Steinhatchee, Fla. and Gerald Davisson of North Vernon, Ind.
She was predeceased by her husband, of 56 years, John T. Bowyer; her sisters, Alberta Bird, Pauline Riddle, Dorothy Bowyer and brother, Robert Davisson; grandson, William Alan Paul and great- grandson, Jason Taylor Paul.
Lucille was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be from Noon until 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Lahm Chapel. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Pastor Lance Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
