Evelyn Mae (Lawyer) Nelson
Evelyn Mae (Lawyer) Nelson, 83, of Pendleton, passed away Dec. 11, 2013 after a short illness. She was born to the late Levi Frederick and Agnes Lawyer, on Aug. 3, 1930, in Haubstadt, Indiana.
Evelyn graduated from Pendleton High School in 1948. She lived in the Pendleton area most of her life.
She was a wonderful homemaker in every way that could be accomplished. She was also a telephone operator and beautician early in her career. She worked as bookkeeper/accountant for Mark, Tool and Die in Markleville for many years. She loved to paint, tend her flower gardens and nurture her family and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Sue Ashton, on Dec. 2, 1971; her parents; and siblings, Louise Smith, Robert Lawyer, Malcolm “Bud” Lawyer, Dick Lawyer and Kathleen Huffman.
Survivors include her three children, Laura Reske and Chuck Nelson, both of Pendleton and Mark Nelson of Gladstone, Missouri; six grandchildren, Katie and Ryan Reske, Tyler, Nick, Eli, and Laurali Nelson; brothers, Dwaine (Peggy) Lawyer, and Sonny (Janie) Lawyer all of Pendleton, and Donald (Ruth Ann) Lawyer of Shirley; and sister, Barbara Schaller of Pendleton.
Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Pastor Claude Creel officiating. Interment will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery immediately after the services. Visitation was from 2 until 6 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Lahm Chapel.
