Rock attended school, being the first graduating class of PHHS in 1970. In 1971, he joined the Army and served in the Engineering Corp for three years. Upon returning home, he worked for DeShon Construction as a heavy machine operator before going to work at Citizens Gas in Indianapolis. Rock retired in 2010 as a mechanic after 35 years. He also stayed actively involved in the Army Reserves for several years. He was a life member of Amvets Post #26 and a member of the Lapel American Legion. Rock was a charter member of the AMA, a member of the Fall Creek Conservation Club and the PADI Divemaster.
Having enjoyed a full life of sports, Rock was a big Colts Fan and established the “He-Man Woman Haters Culb”, Pendleton Chptr., and served as VP for several years. Card carrying members total 182. Back in his day, he enjoyed racing cycles and go carts. Nothing ever smelled as good to him as burning ethanol. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling.
Rock was blessed with a son, Dustin, and beloved daughter, Beth. Later in life he gained another son, Isaac. All three were very important to him and he enjoyed the times they shared. Family grew to include three grandkids, Kassy Baker, Wesley and Justin Beeler. A lot of memories will be shared around campfires in the days to come as we move forward.
It was with honor and privilege that his sister, Pebbles Ann (Bob) Blanchard and his wife Shawn, were able to keep Rock at home until his passing. Many thanks to his friends for their visits and prayers, especially to his buddy, Dean (Carla) Gimple, for “sharing one hell of a Ride” in his lifetime.
