Food Safety Report Card - Feb. 4-11, 2013

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Feb. 4

La Raza Pizza Inc., 1010 N. State St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: NC - Dishwasher temperature needs to be 120 degrees. Currently at 101 degrees. Repair. One week.

Subway, 1261 N. State St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: C – Soup not warm enough. Needs to be 135 degrees, now 116 degrees. Heater faulty, temperature is OK when temped for consumption. Discarded.

Taco Bell #3384, 1552 N. State St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: Need to pay permit fee by Feb. 8, 2013.

Feb. 5

Broadway Diner, 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: Refrigerator keeping at 38-39 degrees.

Chicago’s Pizza, 1031 N. State St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: C – Some salads in reach-in cooler do not have day dots or date of discard. Corrected. NC - Disposable cups need to be in original plastic sleeves or approved dispenser to protect lips of cups from contamination. 90 days.

Pizza King #66, 12110 E. Washington St., Cumberland. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: No violations found.

SoupHerb, 2 W. Main St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: No violations found.

Speedway, 5972 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: NC – Lights in prep room area must be shielded. One day. C – Must have full access to hand sink in prep area. Use gloves, wash and then put on. May not touch RTE food with bare hands. Corrected.

Feb. 6

QDOBA Mexican Grill, 2037 N. State St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: No violations found.

Huck’s Convenience Food & Fuel #298, 322 E. Broadway St., Fortville. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: C – Must have CFH certification. Fax confirmation in two weeks. Failure to obtain within six weeks will insure $100 fine and civil penalties. 6 Weeks. C – Expired food in cooler. Discarded. C – Cooler temperature at 50 degrees. Must be below 41 degrees. Meats discarded. Corrected.

Mozzi’s All Star Pizza, 2221 W. Main St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Follow-up. Violations: No violations found.

Feb. 7

Dollar General Store #3075, 425 W. Broadway St., Fortville. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: NC – Thermometer in reach-in cooler holding eggs is not accurate.

ICAP/Head Start – Fortville Center, 400 W. Church St., Fortville. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: No violations found.

Sunrise Donuts, 225 E. Broadway, Fortville. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: NC – Lights – some rods not working. Repair or replace. C – Employee seen touching donuts with bare hands. NC – Need to wipe down food prep equipment and floors/walls where food, grease and grime have accumulated.

Feb. 8

Speedway #8070, 5058 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: C – Hand sink blocked in dish washing area and food prep area. Corrected. C – Corn dogs not being held at proper temperature. Either proper temperature or prove on grill. 4 hours or less at lower temperatures. Corrected.

Subway Restaurant, 5040 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: No violations found.

Feb. 11

Haru Hana, 1505 N. State St., Greenfield. Type of inspection: Routine. Violations: NC – Nothing should be in hand sink. 30 days. NC – Need hand towels and hot water at 100 degrees and in repair of both mixers. 30 days. NC – Set up sanitize bucket and keep all wiping cloths in it. None should be on counters. 1 day. NC – Clean drips on filters, rods, over wok. 1 day. Post employee health policy. Be sure to have consumer advisory on new menu. Post CFH certificate. CFH must be full time employee at this establishment. May use CFH at only one place, not two.
