The Challenge Girls Club at St. Michael Catholic Church spent three days this week donating its time to assist a variety of community organizations. On Wednesday, their three-day mission work came to a happy end with a carnival at Riley Park.

The 40 or so girls had spent the early part of the week working with area agencies and organizations, including the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, the Hancock County Food Pantry and Hancock County Senior Services. The girls also helped families in need by doing cleanup work around the families’ homes.

At the carnival, the girls and younger children from the city’s day camp at the Pat Elmore Center enjoyed face painting, story telling, craft projects and games.
