Last season, with one junior, three sophomores and a freshman as its top five finishers at semistate, the New Palestine girls’ cross country team finished 19th in its fifth consecutive trip to the semistate meet.
According to coach Daniel Weimer, the success hasn’t gone to the collective head of his team, who has triumphed in sixth straight Hancock County meets.
“The girls’ cross country team has been blessed to compete at an extremely high level due to its hard work, positive attitudes and commitment to each other,” offered Weimer, whose team also took third at regional and sectional in 2011. “It is a joy and a pleasure to work daily with these young ladies.
