Investigators say a Greenfield woman was under the influence of cocaine last summer when she ran a stop sign and crashed, killing her husband.

Rebecca Jordan Garner, 29, Greenfield, was arrested Wednesday and charged with causing death while operating a vehicle under a controlled substance, a Class B felony.

Garner was driving southbound on Meridian Road at Ind. 234 last Aug. 19 when she ran a stop sign and collided with a pickup truck. Her vehicle ended up on its side in a cornfield; the blunt-force trauma caused her husband, Chad Garner, to go into cardiac arrest and die, said Hancock County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Harris.
