Watch them grow

Chicks in the children’s room of the Hancock County Public Library began hatching earlier this week. The library had set up a hatchery so children could watch the eggs incubate and hatch. The anticipation grew as the three-week gestation period came and went last week. But then, on Sunday, some of the shells started to crack, and the chicks pecked their way into the world.

Families can stop by and check out the chicks over the next few days. They will be adopted by local farming families.
