United Way makes final plea to reach goal

GREENFIELD — United Way of Hancock County is making a final push this week to meet the nonprofit’s annual fundraising goal.

It’s a different sort of March Madness for United Way, whose workers are always in a bit of a frenzy this time of year as the annual fundraising campaign draws to a close.

This year, the local office of United Way of Central Indiana pledged to raise $632,000, about a 10 percent increase over the 2012 amount raised.

As of Monday, the nonprofit agency had reached more than $623,000, about $8,900 shy of the campaign goal, said area director Paula Jarrett.

Though the campaign closes in just a few short days on March 31, Jarrett is hopeful community members will come together to support the cause.
