GREENFIELD — Hancock County Commissioner Tom Stevens may not have an opponent this primary election, but he certainly has campaign cash at his fingertips.
In fact, Stevens has the same stash of cash his fellow commissioner, Derek Towle, had access to two years ago.
The two commissioners formed the Hancock County Commissioners Political Action Committee in 2009. Individuals and companies – some of which do business with the county – contribute to the PAC every fall at a fundraiser breakfast.
Ten of the 16 companies that have contributed to the PAC since its formation have done business with Hancock County. Most of them do roadwork.
The thousands of dollars raised annually buy yard signs, political fliers and other items to help get both Towle and Stevens re-elected.
