The former Pendleton Heights High School homecoming queen was among more than 40 people injured during the Indiana State Fair stage collapse that killed five on Saturday.
Andrea Vellinga, 30, suffered a critical injury after she was hit in the head during the collapse. Vellinga was rushed into a five-hour brain surgery, according to her brother Tyler Voss.
Vellinga was in a coma after the accident.
PAINTING THE TOWN PINK
Hundreds of hot pink ribbons of all shapes, sizes and shades started to blanket the town of Pendleton in support of Vellinga.
The ribbons were just one of many ways the community tried to help, including emotional and financial aid. Vellinga remained in a coma after being critically injured at the Sugarland concert.
