FORTVILLE — Stay humble. Stay blue-collar. Business as usual.
Those were the messages delivered after Mt. Vernon’s latest dismantling, a 54-34 pummeling of Pendleton Heights that thrust the Marauders into the Sectional 13 championship game.
Class 4A No. 4 MV (10-1), whose last sectional title was in 2006, will host Delta (8-3) next Friday at 7 p.m. with a regional championship berth on the line. The Eagles dispatched visiting Greenfield-Central (4-7) 28-3 Friday night.
In its initial matchup with the Arabians on Sept. 14, Mt. Vernon led early 9-7, and then scored 49 unanswered points en route to a 58-26 triumph on Pendleton’s homecoming night.
MV running back Tyler Dicks was limited (one carry, 12 yards) in that contest with a groin injury, but made his presence felt right from the start Friday.
