From art classes to cheerleading clinics, children and teens across Hancock County have been enjoying their two-week fall break with hands-on activities.
While about 20 children have been regular participants at the Boys and Girls Club this fall break, a group of four or five faithful teens have been making their mark on a room of their own.
“The Club” is the new hangout for students 13 and older at the Lincoln Street building. The room was set aside two months ago as a place for teens to have their own space with a couch, TV, Wii game system and more.
At the Hancock County Public Library, kids have flooded the children’s room, joining story times and getting books to keep them occupied. Cathy Riley, youth services librarian, said many children came in before fall break began to stock up on new picks or faithful favorites. Tuesday, teens made necklaces at the library.
