GREENFIELD — The president of the Spring Lake Town Council has come under fire for directing thousands of dollars to her husband for work he did for the town while she was head of its board.

Mary Sweetland has been criticized on two separate occasions by the Indiana State Board of Accounts for hiring her husband without filing a conflict of interest disclosure statement as required by state law.
