FORTVILLE — Without standout shooting guard C.J. Coleman for what Mt. Vernon hopes is the final time this season, the Marauders couldn’t keep up Friday with Hoosier Heritage Conference  foe Shelbyville, losing 66-54.

Mt. Vernon could not  go basket for basket with the Golden Bears’ collective hot hand and the Marauders suffered their fourth straight loss after a season-opening victory at Whiteland on Nov. 26.

The Marauders (1-4 overall, 0-2 HHC) kept it close through the first quarter, forcing turnovers and getting Shelbyville (2-2, 1-0 HHC) into foul trouble early on in the game. The Golden Bears had five fouls in the first five minutes of the opening quarter.
