GREENFIELD — When the first shot rang out, Micheal Thomas clapped his hands over his ears.
The 3-year-old boy didn’t know the 21-gun salute honored hundreds of other Hancock County veterans, his great-grandfather among them; he just knew it was loud.
Micheal was among the dozens of people who braved 90-degree heat at Park Cemetery in Greenfield Monday morning for the 55th annual Memorial Day ceremony.
