FORTVILLE — Mt. Vernon’s Jiamyl McCoy was involved in four victories Thursday at the boys’ track and field sectional at Mt. Vernon.
McCoy triumphed in the 100 meters (11.37), high jump (6-0), anchored the 400 meter relay team (44.29) and set a new sectional record in the long jump with a leap of 22-3.
The Marauders’ 3,200 meter relay team won the very first event of the evening. MV’s Chase Harker took home the sectional crown in the pole vault.
After nine events, Mt. Vernon was leading Pendleton Heights 114-54.
Any advancing Eastern Hancock and MV athletes will compete at the North Central regional on May 24.
WARREN CENTRAL — Greenfield-Central’s Matt Dickerson edged Warren Central’s Reggie Smith 15.03-15.06 in the 110 hurdles during Thursday’s boys’ track and field sectional at Warren Central.
Dickerson also prevailed in the 300 hurdles, beating WC’s Reggie Bush and in the long jump.
Tyler Beeson won the shot put for the Cougars, with teammate Logan Addington also advancing by taking third.
Also moving on for G-C were Brandon Bowmer (fourth/100 meters), Chris Sosnowski (second/discus) and the third-place 400 meter relay team.
New Palestine’s Dillon Pike won the 800 meters and 3,200 meter relay (third) team also moved on to regional.
G-C and NP athletes advancing from the Warren Central sectional will compete at the Connersville regional on May 24.
