CAMBRIDGE CITY — If the there’s ever a need to calm down her battery mate, Savannah Blevins knows she’s earned the right tell Taylor Mercer to simply calm down. After catching Mercer for three years on the Eastern Hancock varsity softball team as well during numerous summer games, the two have become a very successful pair.
“I can look at her and say, ‘Hey, relax, you got this,’” Blevins offered shortly after she and Mercer limited the opposition to eight hits.
Tuesday night in a Class 2A Sectional 41 Quarterfinal tilt against Centerville, there wasn’t any need for couples’ therapy. The EH offense provided all the resolution necessary, coming up with 14 hits as Eastern Hancock throttled Centerville 12-3.
The Royals, who entered Tuesday as losers of four of their past six contests, advanced to today’s second semifinal against host Cambridge City Lincoln, who dispatched Knightstown 17-0. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Hagerstown meets Union County in the first semifinal at 5 p.m.
