GREENFIELD — Though the remnants of Hurricane Isaac did not produce as much rain locally as originally expected, the damage left in the storm’s wake was a sobering reminder of the importance of disaster preparedness and for some local officials of how underprepared Hancock County might be for disaster relief.
“If I had to rank us on a scale from one to 10, with 10 being the most prepared with everything we need, I’d say we’re at a four or a five,” said Larry Ervin, emergency management director for Hancock County.
