HANCOCK COUNTY — It’s going to be cool running on two sides of the county this Saturday as two 5K runs get off their marks to raise money for local educational foundations.
In Charlottesville, runners in the first-ever Royal Mudman mud run will slosh off the line at EH High School, into the woods and along Six-Mile Creek to a soggy finish.
In addition to slogging through the creek, competitors will slither through a tire crawl – complete with mud – and scramble, crawl or otherwise summit a muddy hill climb.
No straight lines here; diversity, organizers say, is the key.
“There’s going to be a lot of variety,” said run spokesman Gary Riley. “There’s going to be obstacles to crawl through, balance on and climb over.”
