CHARLOTTESVILLE — Eastern Hancock prepared for the sectional Friday night the only way it’s known how to.
By scoring by the bushels.
Friday night, the Class 1A-No. 4 Royals completed the first undefeated regular season in the program’s 45-year history, running over undermanned Tindley 72-6 on Senior Night.
For the third time in five weeks, the Royals achieved a school record for points, this time equaling the output they hung on Wes-Del Oct. 4. Friday’s margin also tied the school mark, set two weeks ago.
EH (9-0) will go into this Friday’s Sectional 45 opener against Union City just as it entered the Tindley no-contest, as the state’s highest-scorimg squad (just under 57 a game). The Royals’ 60-point streak is now at five.
“It’s a great accomplishment doing something that’s never been done before,” senior lineman Josh Ramage said. “Last year, we were 6-6 and that felt great because (this year’s senior class) had never had a winning season.”
