The 2013 Riley Festival queen will be crowned Sunday at the Greenfield-Central High School auditorium. The pageant begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door, and children 5 and under are admitted free.
GREENFIELD — Sixteen young women are vying for the title of 2013 Riley Festival queen, but only one will take home the crown at this weekend’s pageant.
The contestants have been gearing up for Sunday’s competition for weeks, said pageant coordinator Christa Pike.
In late August, Pike took the girls on a tour of downtown Greenfield, making stops at a variety of businesses whose owners provided the contestants with tips for making a lasting impression on the judges. That advice included how to prepare for an interview, style their hair, choose appropriate attire, apply their makeup and model onstage.
The tour also gave the girls a chance to see the area where the festival, which runs Oct. 3-6, is held.
